Student Support Services
You belong at Doane University. You’re not just a number at Doane, your academic and personal success matter to us. We provide you ways to maintain physical, mental and emotional health.
Through student support services like mentoring, tutoring, testing, career coaching, counseling and more, our goal is to help you be the best you in the classroom and across campus.
Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center offers resources, services and support to students so they can successfully navigate the rigors of college life and Doane’s liberal arts education.
ACADEMIC SKILLS
College is a balancing act, and we’re here to help. Our staff will coach you on time management, note-taking, goal setting and more to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.
WRITING ASSISTANCE
Consultations and online writing guidance are available for any student any time during the writing process, whether their work is academic, professional or creative.
TESTING SERVICES
We offer exam analysis for students who want to improve their performance on exams, and help students prepare for graduate/professional school entrance examples like the LSAT, GRE and more.
DISABILITY SERVICES
Accommodations are available to students with disabilities to provide them equal access to all University programs, facilities, services and opportunities.
Support that Enhances the Student Experience
Free tutoring is available to students, through one-one-one appointments, drop-ins and group sessions. Tutors are current students who have excelled in certain subject areas.
The Tiger Mentoring Program provides students with resources and relationships that enhance their academic experience, thereby increasing students’ retention and success. Doane connects participating students with peer mentors. Mentors help foster a community of support for students as they acclimate to college.
TRIO Student Support Services empowers students who are first-generation, have limited financial resources, or have a disability, by providing individualized academic resources, transformative experiences, and skill development to create equitable educational opportunities for students to thrive at Doane.
Students qualify for TRIO Student Support Services if they meet one or more of the eligibility requirements and have an academic need. This program is funded to serve a limited number of students. Although applications are processed immediately, students may be placed on a waiting list.

Neither parent nor guardian(s) has earned a four-year college degree.
Income eligible:
Student must meet federal income guidelines according to Federal TRIO Programs Current Low-Income Levels.

Religious and Spiritual Life
Find support, encouragement and programming for students of all religious and spiritual backgrounds.
One of Doane's four Shield Societies is "Interfaith Scholars" – a group of students interested in exploring religious diversity and learning how to advocate for religious pluralism though interfaith courses and diverse religious site visits. Learn more

Sexual misconduct is not tolerated at Doane University. We are dedicated to safeguarding all students against harassment and abuse. We provide confidential resources on each of our campuses. And every report of sexual and/or relationship misconduct will be taken seriously and action will be taken as appropriate.

Campus Advocacy, Prevention and Education (CAPE) Project
Campus Advocacy, Prevention and Education Project (CAPE) helps to shift campus and community culture to one that promotes healthy communication, relationships and sexual behavior.
Their goal is to increase trauma-informed networks of support for survivors of interpersonal violence while decreasing incidents of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking through inclusive prevention and education programs.
